Ordering for Adults vs. Kids
A general rule of thumb is that adults will eat around 3 slices of pizza and children will eat around 2 slices when purchasing a standard pie. Increase that estimate to 4 slices per adult and 3 slices per child when ordering smaller sized pies or thin crust options. If you’re ordering for your own family, you can fine-tune that figure by considering household eating habits. Can your kids throw back slice after slice, or are they content with just one?
Ordering for a Crowd
If you’re ordering for a large group, you can do the math quickly by multiplying the total number of guests by 3/8. That’s because each slice of pizza takes up 1/8 of the pie, and adults tend to eat 3 slices per meal. If you get a fraction, just round up. It’s always better to have leftovers than to leave anyone hungry. Here’s a quick cheat sheet for larger parties:
- 10 People = 4 Pizzas
- 15 People = 6 Pizzas
- 20 People = 8 Pizzas
- 30 People = 12 Pizzas
- 50 People = 19 Pizzas

Choosing Toppings
At Salerno’s, our menu offers something for everyone. If it’s possible, we recommend asking around to get a feel for everyone’s preferences and dietary restrictions. The three most popular toppings in the United States are pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms – and it never hurts to order a plain cheese pizza for picky eaters. You can also order toppings on just half of the pizza to maximize your total toppings. We’re happy to work with you to find a solution that pleases all parties, so don’t hesitate to ask!
